Sausage Balls

Introduction

These are super easy crowd pleasers that can be made ahead of time and brought to any potluck.

You can store these in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to four days, or on a baking sheet, place in the freezer for about an hour and then transfer to a ziplock freezer bag and keep in the freezer for up to three months. Reheat in the oven at 350 degrees F for about 10-15 minutes, until thawed and heated through.

Ingredients

1 lb ground pork sausage, at room temperature

2 cups biscuit mix

1 lb sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded

1 tsp fresh sage, chopped

1 Tbsp maple syrup

Chives and parsley to garnish (optional)

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Mix the sausage, sage, maple syrup, and biscuit mix together until well incorporated. Then fold in the cheese. Using your hands is the best way to incorporate these ingredients, but if you can’t stand the feel of it, use a wooden spoon and mix well.

Roll sausage mixture into walnut (or golf ball) sized balls and place on a baking sheet. You should get about 30 sausage balls from this mixture.

Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes, until golden and cooked though. These balls should be sizzling when they come out of the oven.

Top with chives, parsley, and/or even more grated cheese if you wish and enjoy.
